California Again Has Most New Bankruptcy Filings

A report by data compiler  Epiq Systems shows that California is on track for filing the most new bankruptcy cases.  In 2015 California had, by far, the most bankruptcy filings with 80,386.  The vast majority of those cases were Chapter 7 cases at 74%.  While California by far has had the most bankruptcy filings, Tennessee and Alabama, by far, have had the most filings per capita.  

Since 2010 the posted graph shows that there has been a substantial decrease in people filing for bankruptcy over the years.  The statistics for filings in February 2016 is extremely close to the number of people filing for February 2015.  There were only about 500 additional filings for February 2016 than in 2015.
